Jandowae Prep-10 State School has a wonderful history with the school celebrating 125 years of education in 2012. The Jandowae township is located 50 kilometres from Dalby and our district is well serviced by bus transport services. A point of interest is that the majority of our students travel by bus to school. Thereby, our communication between the home and the school is very important to ensure a supportive and well nourished partnership. The school newsletter is a vital connection and is both well read and well regarded by our local and district community as a valuable source of both school and community news.
We have a five period day that involves the core subjects of mathematics, English, science, health and physical education (HPE), history, geography, languages and a choice of several high interest courses such as food technology, industrial technology and design, graphics, drama and visual arts. The junior secondary and senior students provide learning opportunities to primary student through peer mentoring programs. The primary students engage in weekly specialist lessons for HPE, music, languages and the arts. Being a Prep-10 school, we offer a direct pathway for our upper primary students to move seamlessly into junior secondary.
The inclusive and compassionate community of students, staff and parents provides the ideal environment for fostering individual strengths, meeting individual needs and challenging the abilities of each student in a supportive, positive and vibrant learning community. As well as ensuring that teachers gain the latest in professional development, a team approach to teaching is fostered to ensure the best educational outcomes for every child.
